National Adventure Marathon
All National Adventure Marathon lovers will be happy to hear that NAM will again run in 2010. The date scheduled for the adventure marathon is Saturday the 14th to Sunday the 15th August 2010. This will enable participants to enjoy the local festivities of Puck Fair which takes during the previous week.
The format of NAM will be tweaked to allow for a later registration on Friday night and the team staged event will run throughout Saturday until Sunday lunchtime. As always the race will be a staged event open to teams of 4 athletes. All team members will require a very high level of fitness and endurance as well as expertise in a variety of outdoor skills.
The National Adventure Marathon is a combination of several disciplines, including Navigation and Orienteering, Mountain Biking, Paddling, Mountain Running as well as Team Initiatives and maybe Raft Building. This year’s event promises to offer the usual challenges, high adventure and adventurous surprises.
Each participant who enters will recieve a goodie bag and technical t-shirt on entering, there will also be prizes for the overall winning team. The entry fee for the weekend is €1,000 per team, this price covers; food, accomodation, use of specialist equipment, event transport and public liability insurance.
